Best Kept Secret Festival

Alt-J, The Libertines, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Three headliners, three British bands. Best Kept Secret Festival have recently announced their first fifty three acts, the majority of which are British. With such a prestigious line-up for BKS surely this will change where British festival goers are planning to put their tents up this summer.

British festivals are tending to forget their target audience in the recent years to try and gain bigger crowds. For example, in the last couple of years Leeds and Reading Festival have had Eminem, Macklemore and are headlining Metallica this year. Although this is helping create diversity within the audience they attract, it is also causing them to lose credibility and the reputation they have for playing alternative artists and bands. Some may argue that diversity within a festival is a good thing, however along with diversity finds different genre fans looking for festivals specific to their genre. In this case, alternative music fans would find festivals that would cater their preferences more, such as festivals like Best Kept Secret which have a strong alternative line-up.

Year after year British festivals are getting more expensive and British festival goers are spending their money going elsewhere. To say that Best Kept Secret are offering travel and a ticket for £219 it already makes it cheaper than Leeds & Reading and Glastonbury, you've got a higher chance of nice weather and Best Kept Secret's lineup is the best line-up so far for 2015 festivals, it seems like a no-brainer.

As well as the headliners, Quite a few other British bands will be taking to the stage in Holland, a few examples are: The Vaccines, Hookworms, Eagulls, Yak, Wolf Alice and Jesus And Mary Chain.

The Vaccines, after being on the scene since 2010, have become one of the bands to know in the indie music scene. After releasing two consecutive albums in 2011 and 2012 The Vaccines have built a veracious reputation and have played along side acts such as The Rolling Stones, The Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, I'm surprised they  haven't taken top slot.

hailing from Leeds, Hookworms and Eagulls are relatively new to the known music scene but have burst on with flying colours. Wolf Alice are also a band that have made an impact on the alternative scene and a band I'd recommend to catch if you're going.  After being around since 2010 Wolf Alice have not yet released an album but their EP's are things of wonder. Although it is coming up to five years since their formation, I can only presume that the wait will be worth it. However, Wolf Alice although not having an album do have an extensive amount of tour experience as they are always on the road and it will be interesting to see how they play in a festival environment as I personally have only seen them perform at intimate venues.

Scotland's Jesus And Mary Chain are taking thirty years of experience to Best Kept Secret. Even though they have been around since 1983, Jesus And The Mary Chain have created timeless music and have multiple generations of fans that I'm sure will draw in quite a prodigious, dedicated crowd.

As well as the acts that I have mentioned there are an abundance of awesome bands playing at Best Kept Secret Festival 2015 and with headliners with stature such as Noel Gallagher and The Libertines it is a festival that any alternative music lover should try their best to attend.
